Durante casi 20 años, el alemán Uwe Schmidt ha producido no menos de 70 álbumes bajo varios seudónimos. Después de su paseo por el techno / dance / ambient / trance, en la década de los 90's formó su propio sello Rather Interesting en el que hizo una serie de álbumes, edita sus propios trabajos así como los de grupos con los que colabora. A fines de los 90's se trasladó a Santiago de Chile, donde creó Señor Coconut, posiblemente su mutación mas conocida, de aquí nace El baile alemán (2000) con los temas clásicos de Kraftwerk en clave tropical.
